The School of International Economics and Politics traces its origins to the Department of Trade and Economics of Jiangxi College of Finance and Economics, founded in 1958. It was renamed the Department of International Trade in 1995, established as the School of International Economics and Trade in July 1998, renamed the School of International Trade and Economics in June 2009, and adopted its present name in October 2024.

For more than six decades, our faculty and staff have worked as one — with dedication, diligence and a shared sense of purpose. Guided by the University's overarching goal of building a high-level university of finance and economics that is solid in foundation, distinctive in character, satisfying to the people, and internationally renowned, and committed to an open approach to education, we have devoted ourselves to developing entrepreneurial professionals in economics and trade. Along the way, we have steadily strengthened the disciplinary system of international trade, sharpened our academic identity, refined our program structure, clarified our research directions and cultivated our academic teams, while actively advancing a strategy of internationalization. These sustained efforts have enabled the School to achieve remarkable, far-reaching progress.

Against the backdrop of rapid economic globalization and a new stage in China's opening-up, we remain steadfast in putting teaching quality first. Oriented toward the nation's major strategic needs and closely aligned with and integrated into national strategies, we draw on our 3+3 Talent Development Innovation Pilot Zone to keep renewing our teaching methods. We place great emphasis on nurturing students' interests and unlocking their potential, so that we can develop outstanding professionals in economics, trade and business who are internationally minded, interdisciplinary and innovative — equipped with a global perspective, a solid professional foundation, strong cross-cultural communication skills, well-rounded qualities and a distinct competitive edge.

Deep roots yield luxuriant foliage; a distant source gives rise to a long stream. In the spirit of our University motto — Honesty, Diligence, Integrity and Perseverance — and guided by the Scientific Outlook on Development, the School of International Economics and Politics will foster a culture of international trade and economics in which our faculty find fulfilment, our students feel a true sense of belonging, and society recognizes our contribution. We will keep renewing our approach to teaching, and pursue bold exploration and tireless effort as we build the School into a nationally first-class school of international economics and politics with a distinctive international character.

The School of International Economics and Politics is a community that welcomes you. We look forward to having you join us.
