[Time:2026-03-18 11:22:43]

On the morning of March 17, the 280th lecture of the International Economic and Trade Forum of the School of International Economics and Politics was successfully held in Room 3111 of the Yizhen Building at the Jiaoqiaoyuan Campus. Professor Li Zhenfu of Dalian Maritime University—among the first batch of National Cultural Talents and the chief expert of the Ministry of Education's Philosophy and Social Sciences Innovation Team—was invited to deliver the keynote lecture; the event was chaired by Professor Jiang Hanming, and over 20 faculty members and students attended.

Professor Li Zhenfu, focusing on “the development of the Arctic Route and its impact on the global trade landscape,” conducted an in-depth analysis of the strategic value and practical challenges associated with the Arctic Route. He noted that the Arctic Route can shorten the voyage by approximately one-third compared to conventional shipping routes, while offering significant resource and geopolitical value, making it a cornerstone for the construction of the “Ice Silk Road.” At the same time, he also pointed out that the route still faces considerable constraints in terms of navigation technology, infrastructure, and geopolitical considerations.

Professor Li believes that as a “near-Arctic country,” China should actively promote technological innovation and exploration of logistics models—such as establishing a “China-North Pole Freight Train” land-sea intermodal transport corridor and strategically planning intelligent solutions like the “Arctic Pendulum Route” —to facilitate the integration of Arctic routes into the global trade network.

The lecture provided faculty and students with new perspectives on international shipping and geo-economic affairs; the on-site discussions were in-depth, and the response was positive.(Author's Affiliation: School of International Economics and Politics)
