On the morning of 16 April, the workshop on Pakistan's Higher Education Development and University-Industry Cooperation, organized by the School of International Trade and Economics of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, the Centre for Pakistan Studies of Fudan University and the Centre for Pakistan Studies of Peking University, and co-organized by the Secretariat of CPEC Consortium of Universities and the China-Pakistan Higher Education Research Institute , begins successfully. Li Chungen, the member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Gao Xiaojie, Director of the Academic and Communication Department of the Secretariat of the Chinese Society of Higher Education, were invited to attend the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Zhang Jiegen, Director of the Centre for Pakistan Studies of Fudan University, Liu Xiaobing, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics and the 16 participants from Pakistan attended the ceremony. The event was hosted by Wu Zhaoyang, Dean of the School of International Trade and Economics.
Firstly, Li Chungen warmly welcomed all the participants and said that this workshop profoundly implements President Xi Jinping's initiative of "community of shared destiny", and also marks a new starting point for friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and Pakistan, and he hoped that the two countries could jointly explore new development paths and opportunities in education, so as to realize the common development of education in China and Pakistan. Secondly, he introduced Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JXUFE). Secondly, he introduced the philosophy of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics and its outstanding contribution in short-term training projects. Every year, JXUFE undertakes many leadership training tasks of various categories and levels at home and abroad, and has trained more than 900 professionals in related fields for other developing countries, thus accumulating rich experience in training leadership cadres in developing countries. Finally, he hoped that through this workshop on "Strengthening Academic Exchange and Cooperation between China and Pakistan and Promoting the Construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor with High Quality", the university could further expand the cooperation space with the members of the alliance in the future, and contribute to the economic construction of the countries along the Belt and Road and the reform and innovation of teaching and learning in Chinese higher education. In the future, our university will be able to further expand the scope of cooperation with the members of the alliance and contribute more wisdom to serve the economic construction of the countries along the Belt and Road and the reform and innovation of China's higher education.
In her speech, Gao Xiaojie first congratulated the opening of the workshop. She said that China and Pakistan have been friends for generations, and regardless of changes in the international situation, we have always been true friends and have established an "ironclad" bond of friendship. This workshop will mainly focus on the construction of first-class universities, the integration of industry, academia and research, the construction of high-tech parks and other issues of common concern, which is a major breakthrough in the depth of cooperation between China and Pakistan in higher education. It is hoped that this workshop can make full use of the expert resources of Chinese and Pakistani universities to promote exchanges and cooperation in joint scientific research.
Nuhammad Faisal Buti, Director of the National Centre for Higher Education, serving on the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, spoke as a representative. He said he was honored to have the opportunity to participate in this workshop and thanked Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics for its careful preparation and warm service. He urged all the participants to share what they had learned at the workshop with their colleagues and apply it to their own work and practice, so as to make practical contributions to promoting China-Pakistan economic and trade cooperation and humanistic exchanges.
Afterwards, the participants of the workshop introduced themselves one by one, saying that they love Chinese culture very much, feel very honored to have the opportunity to come to China to participate in this workshop, and express their gratitude to all the leaders and staff who were committed to this workshop. In the next 14 days, they will earnestly learn from China's relevant experience and apply it to their own fields of work. Meanwhile, they hope that China and Pakistan can have more cooperation in education in the future.
The opening ceremony was also carefully designed to be a gift-giving ceremony. In the passionate music of the venue, Li Chungen and the student representatives exchanged gifts and took a group photo.
