Professor Lu Yi, PhD supervisor, Head of Department of Economics, National Talent Program Recipient. received his bachelor's degree from the School of Life Sciences, Fudan University in 1999; master's degree from the School of Management, Fudan University in 2003; and doctorate degree from the School of Business and Economics, The University of Hong Kong in 2007. He has been working as a research assistant professor in the School of Business and Economics of the University of Hong Kong, and as an assistant professor and long term associate professor in the Department of Economics of the National University of Singapore. He was honored with the first Chinese Young Economist Award in 2019.
Prof. Lu Yi is engaged in research in the field of China's economy, mainly focusing on economic growth, public finance, international trade and regional economy. He has published dozens of papers in American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, American Economic Review: Economic Policy, Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of International Economics, Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Development Economics and other international first-class economics journals. He has also published more than ten papers in China's leading economics journals, such as China Social Science, Economic Research, and Management World.
The paper "How do exporters respond to antidumping investigations?" won the excellent paper award of the 18th Anzuke International Trade Research Award in 2014. The paper "Trade Liberalization and Markup Dispersion: Evidence from China's WTO Accession" won the Third Prize of the Nineteenth Philosophy and Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award (Basic Theory Research Category) of Zhejiang Province in 2017. The paper "Does Environmental Regulation Drive away Inbound Foreign Direct Investment? Evidence from a Quasi-Natural Experiment in China" was awarded the thirteenth Fujian Provincial Second Prize of Excellent Achievements in Social Sciences. The paper "Identifying FDISpillovers" won the Second Prize of the Eighth Award for Outstanding Achievements in Scientific Research in Colleges and Universities (Humanities and Social Sciences) in 2020.
Currently serving as Associate Editor of Journal of Comparative Economics, China &World Economy and Journal of Economics, Co-Director of Tsinghua University-University of Chicago Joint Research Center for Economics and Finance, Director of the Center for International Economics at the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University, Deputy Director of Tsinghua University's Institute of Chinese Fiscal and Taxation Research.
