The School of International Trade and Economics held a lecture on academic paper guidance for international students
On November 18, the School of International Trade and Economics institute invited southwest university of finance and finance institute Dr Lv Yongjian to international students to carry out the theme of "Some Suggestions on Writing an AcademicPaper" online seminar, the lecture around the students often encounter some problems in the process of writing papers, for students' writing to provide some substantial help and advice. The lecture attracted 127 graduate students of master's degree and doctoral students of 2021 and 2022. Tang Xiaojun, vice president of the School of International Trade and Economics, and Xu Tao, counselor of international students, attended the seminar.
Dr. Lv starts from two aspects: preliminary preparation and example analysis. First preparatory work, he from how to read and manage literature, how to choose the right topic and how to discuss data processing, emphasizes the purpose of the paper writing is the research problem rather than describe the problem, should find a research gap and the insufficiency, make up for the lack of this and put forward the solution to the problem. Then, Dr. Lu took his published classic paper as an example to share his ideas in writing step by step, refine the writing process of the paper, and made a profound analysis of a series of problems often encountered by international students in the process of paper writing. At the end of the interactive question session, facing the international students, Dr. Lu answered the questions patiently. The discussion atmosphere was strong, and a good academic exchange effect was achieved.
Through this lecture, international students have a further understanding of how to write academic papers, opened up their ideas, and solved the confusion in the topic selection, data processing, empirical analysis and other aspects, and benefited a lot. This special lecture is also one of the series of academic activities for international students in the five series of education activities created by our college for international students. By providing a high-level academic paper writing and exchange platform for international students, it continuously promotes the level and quality of academic papers and academic research for international students.
